Job summary

The Boring Company is seeking a skilled Welder to support underground operations in Nashville, TN. You will perform welding, fabrication, and downtime fixes on a hard rock Main Beam TBM and related systems, collaborating with mechanics, electricians, and foremen to keep equipment production-ready.

This field-based role requires comfort in tight spaces, strong technical skills, and the ability to work rotating shifts in demanding environments. AWS certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of welding experience in structural or industrial settings.
• Underground or heavy civil construction experience preferred.
• Proficient in MIG, Stick, and cutting torch; GTAW/TIG a plus.
• Able to work in confined underground spaces and rotating shifts.
• AWS or equivalent certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks on TBM components, muck conveyors, support equipment, and infrastructure.
• Respond to unplanned mechanical failures and perform in-field structural repairs to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and field modification instructions.
• Weld various materials including carbon steel, stainless, and hardened components under underground conditions.
• Support TBM launches, ring rebuilds, machine modifications, and tail shield maintenance.
• Assist with general maintenance and assembly/disassembly tasks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards.
