Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated UG Operations Supervisor to oversee and support our in-house underground drilling crews. This role is crucial in ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency across all UG operations in the region. Responsibilities include daily field inspections, hands-on training, coaching, and supporting new crew members to meet performance and safety standards.

The position requires extensive travel—at least 80% of the time—within the assigned region. A company vehicle and travel expenses will be provided.

Responsibilities:

1. Daily Oversight: Supervise and inspect underground drilling operations to ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and project specifications.
2. Training & Onboarding: Lead on-site training sessions for new and existing crews, focusing on best practices, proper equipment use, and safety procedures.
3. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety standards and conduct routine audits and toolbox talks.
4. Quality Control: Review bore logs, restoration practices, potholing, and fiber/copper path integrity to meet client and internal expectations.
5. Problem-Solving: Act as the first point of contact for field issues or delays, coordinating with operations and project management teams.
6. Documentation: Maintain records of inspections, crew performance, and training activities; provide reports to regional and department leads.
7. Communication: Collaborate with Regional Directors, Foremen, and Project Managers to align on goals, expectations, and crew performance.

Requirements:

1. 5+ years of experience in underground drilling operations.
2. Strong understanding of HDD, potholing, utility locates, and safety protocols.
3. Experience training or mentoring UG crews is preferred.
4. Ability to read construction prints and jobsite plans.
5. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
6. Willingness to travel regularly across multiple states.
7. Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, competent person training, or NCCER are a plus.
8. Valid driver's license (CDL a plus).
