Job summary

Walker Lovell is seeking an underground mining engineer to support planning, production scheduling and development of an underground hard rock limestone operation in a rural setting. You will lead ground control efforts, roof and pillar stability, ventilation planning and ensure safe, productive operations.

The role requires strong underground experience, familiarity with MSHA Part 48, and a safety-focused mindset to solve complex engineering challenges in a site-based environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Strong underground mining experience in hard rock/limestone or comparable environments.
• Strong knowledge of ground control, roof control and pillar stability.
• Experience with mine planning, ventilation and blasting.
• Understanding of MSHA Part 48 requirements.
• Experience working in technically challenging underground conditions.
• Strong safety mindset and practical approach to solving operational problems.

Responsibilities

• Support underground mine planning, production scheduling and future mine development.
• Take a leading technical role in ground control, roof stability and pillar stability.
• Support ventilation planning, blasting and safe underground mine operations.
• Assess challenging geological conditions and help develop practical engineering solutions.
• Work closely with the Mine Manager and site leadership to improve safety, productivity and operational performance.
• Support longer-term mine planning and expansion initiatives.
• Provide engineering input across a predominantly underground hard rock limestone operation.
