Walker Lovell is seeking an underground mining engineer to support planning, production scheduling and development of an underground hard rock limestone operation in a rural setting. You will lead ground control efforts, roof and pillar stability, ventilation planning and ensure safe, productive operations.
The role requires strong underground experience, familiarity with MSHA Part 48, and a safety-focused mindset to solve complex engineering challenges in a site-based environment.
Compensation: Reflecting experience and scope
What's in it for you?
Join an established mining business with a growing underground operation where you'll play a key role in mine planning, ground control, safety and future development.
This is an opportunity to work in a technically challenging underground environment, have real input into operational decisions and build a long-term career within a privately owned, team-focused business. You'll work closely with site leadership and have the flexibility to shape the role around your technical strengths.
Why this business
A well-established mining and minerals company with more than a century of operational history and a strong reputation for long-term employee retention.
The business is privately owned, family and team oriented, and offers a high degree of flexibility. Its underground operation presents genuinely interesting engineering challenges, particularly around ground control, roof and pillar stability and complex geological conditions.
For someone who enjoys a rural lifestyle, the location also offers access to hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities, with several established communities within commuting distance.
What you'll be doing
What you'll bring
Previous people-management experience is welcome, but it is not essential. Candidates with particularly strong technical expertise in ground control and underground engineering are encouraged to apply.
Who this suits
You're an underground mining engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and wants to have a visible impact on site performance.
You may already be leading teams, or you may be a technically strong engineer looking for greater ownership and exposure to operational decision-making. What matters most is your ability to bring strong underground engineering judgement, particularly around ground control, into a site-based environment.
