Job summary

Sheakley Workforce Staffing seeks a Safety Manager for an Austin-based mechanical construction project. You will lead safety efforts on underground work, ensure OSHA compliance, and mentor crews and subcontractors in hazard recognition.

This 4-month, 1099 contract offers a start ASAP, with pay at $44–$48/hr and a $125 daily per diem; typical weeks are 40+ hours, increasing toward ramp-up.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical construction safety experience.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Strong working knowledge of construction safety requirements.
• Experience supporting underground construction activities.
• Effective communication with field crews, subcontractors, and project leadership.
• Willing to work in a fast-paced environment with longer hours during ramp-up.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily safety leadership for mechanical construction and underground work.
• Conduct site inspections and identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and practices.
• Support job hazard analyses, pre-task planning, and daily safety meetings.
• Monitor excavation, trenching, underground utility, equipment, and mechanical installation activities.
• Verify OSHA compliance, company policies, and project safety procedures.
• Coach employees and subcontractors on hazard recognition and safe work practices.
• Enforce PPE, housekeeping, access-control, and site-safety requirements.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate inspection reports, training records, and corrective-action documentation.
• Partner with project leadership to address hazards before they affect employees.
