Job summary

Barrick is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer II to join the Fourmile Project Team in Elko, NV. You will support the Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer and Project Manager to safely deliver the feasibility study, evaluating technical, economic, and financial aspects of the proposed mine development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Engineering or Science degree in Mining, Civil, Geological or Geotechnical Engineering or related field (required).
• Underground geotechnical experience or internships (required).
• Geotechnical core logging experience (preferred).
• Familiarity with mining software, Deswik preferred.
• Strong team, problem solving and communication skills (required).
• Flexible work hours for on-call/call-outs (preferred).
• Ability to work in a team and independently (required).
• Strong communication and team fostering skills (required).

Responsibilities

• Independently perform inspections of underground mining activities to identify ground hazards and monitor excavation performance.
• Ensure adherence to Ground Control standards and QA/QC programs (rockbolt pull-testing, shotcrete/backfill testing).
• Design ground support using rock mechanics properties as needed.
• Collect, analyze, and report geotechnical monitoring data and maintain databases.
• Assist with ground control safety training programs.
• Provide support with geotechnical projects as necessary.
• Perform underground geotechnical mapping and core logging for drill programs.
