Job summary

Northern Star (Pogo) LLC is seeking an Underground Electrician for our Pogo operation in Alaska on a 3 week on, 3 week off schedule with day and night shifts. The role focuses on installation and maintenance of underground electrical infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have mining experience, a valid driver’s license, and a HV switching ticket. The job involves remote site living, safety compliance, and collaboration with the Electrical Supervisor and teams on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant mining experience.
• Underground electrical installation and maintenance.
• High Voltage switching ticket desired or required.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain underground electrical reticulation and infrastructure.
• Perform breakdown and maintenance on underground drilling equipment.
• Maintain and repair underground electrical systems and telemetry.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA and safety procedures.
• Liaise with Electrical Supervisor and crew for coordination.

Due to increased production, Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Underground Electrician at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a 3 week on, 3 week off schedule, rotating days and nights.

What’s the role?

The Underground Electrician reports to the Electrical Supervisor, and the primary role is the installation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure within the Operations.

Duties include:

• Complete monthly scheduledcompliance work to a high standard.
• Installation of underground electrical reticulation and infrastructure.
• Breakdown and maintenance repairs on underground drilling equipment.
• Installation, maintenance andrepairs of underground remote, communication and network systems.
• Maintenance and breakdown repairs of electrical infrastructure, dewatering infrastructure and telemetry are completed to a high standard.
• Liaise closely and maintain effective communication with Electrical Supervisor and other key Stakeholders.
• Attend daily pre-start meeting to ensure effective communication and handovers between crewswith regard toelectrical maintenance plans, and see that issue are completed in detail.
• Rigorous cost management. Avoid rework and unnecessary use of parts/services.
• Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Highlight equipment defects and issues,effectively utilising the electrical management process.
• Carry out and provide input to the development of and follow SWPs/JHAs and World Precision Instrument (WPI), ensuring risks are mitigated, and safety standards are met. Undertake team-based risk assessments as required.
• Ensure correct history is collected and effectively recorded.
• Ensure correct electrical testing is completed to comply with standards and that all documentation is recorded correctly and in a timely manner.
• Update all registers and drawings on completion of all tasks/installationspriortoend of shift.
• Provide input into the annual performance reviews for Electrical Apprentices.
• Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.
• Otherduties as required.

The details:

Working a 21 day on, 21 day off rotating schedule up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi‑Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi‑Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
