Job summary

Pike Electric, LLC is seeking a Cable Splicer to safely construct and repair underground electrical systems. You will work on energized and de-energized lines and may travel to out-of-state job sites as needed, reporting to the Foreman.

This role emphasizes safety, leadership and hands-on field work. You will train apprentices, operate heavy equipment, and respond to outages and emergencies, including on-call rotations, in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of recent underground experience.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction, maintenance and repair of energized and de-energized underground systems.
• Lead crew members in the absence of the Employee in Charge and conduct pre-job safety briefing.
• Train and mentor apprentices and groundmen.
• Install and repair underground power, conductors and related hardware.
• Comprehensive knowledge of tagging procedures, grounding and induced voltage on energized and de-energized lines using proper tools.
• Work in confined spaces, and in proximity to energized equipment.
• Operate a backhoe, bucket trucks and digger trucks, mini excavator.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Perform live-line work using approved gloving and hot-stick techniques of energized lines.
• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and insulated protective measures.
