Qualifications

• Current University of Florida undergraduate student eligible for Federal Work-Study.
• Able to work 10–15 hours per week with Work-Study constraints.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate records.
• Complete required safety, animal handling, and compliance training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine management and monitoring of research mouse colonies.
• Maintain records of breeding pairs, birth dates, litter sizes, weaning dates, and animal IDs.
• Coordinate breeding schedules, weaning, and colony inventory under supervision.
• Assist with animal identification and genotyping prep following training.
• Monitor colony performance and report outcomes or abnormalities to staff.
• Maintain colony databases and track animal availability for planned experiments.
• Observe animal health and welfare and report concerns promptly.
• Perform activities per IACUC and UF policies.
• Prepare reagents, supplies, and materials for experiments.
• Support molecular biology procedures and sample labeling and storage.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and organization.
