Job Title: Research Assistant Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Animal Science

Job Location: College Station, Texas

Job Type: Staff

Responsibilities
  • Mouse colony maintenance (breeding, genotyping, injections, record keeping)
  • Perform RNA/DNA extractions, processing, and analytical methods (including qPCR and genomic library preparations)
  • Perform cell and embryo culture
  • Assist other laboratory members and technical staff in the design, planning, and coordinating of experiments in support of various research projects
  • Use computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and detailed records of data
  • Order and receive laboratory supplies and maintain inventory
  • Maintain laboratory equipment
  • Oversee laboratory safety
  • Assist the principal investigator and other laboratory methods with preparing reports, figures, invoices, cataloging records and other documents
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Assist undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, genetics, developmental biology, or related field
  • Two or more years of related experience

  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position

  • Nucleic acid extraction and analysis
  • Small animal handling and husbandry experience
  • Genomic sequencing experience (RNAseq, ATACseq, ChIP-Seq)
  • Cell, tissue, or embryo culture
