Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks an Electro-Optical Engineering Undergrad Intern for the Integrated Sensor Design and Analysis Department in El Segundo. You will assist in optical system design, analysis, and testing for national security space programs, supporting prototypes to satellite-level demonstrations.

Ideal candidates are enrolled full-time in optics/physics/EE, with a 3.0+ GPA and strong MATLAB or Python skills; coursework in optical systems or remote sensing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in a college/university pursuing a Bachelor's in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of term and return to degree program afterward.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong programming skills in engineering environments (e.g., MATLAB or Python).
• Coursework or project experience in optical systems, remote sensing, or electro-optical engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance; US citizenship required.
• Transcripts required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, modeling, and analysis of passive electro-optical remote sensing systems using ray tracing tools (CodeV, Zemax).
• Support evaluation of infrared sensor performance theoretically and experimentally.
• Perform data analysis and scripting in MATLAB or Python.
• Participate in lab activities: assembly, alignment, and testing of electro-optical sensors.
• Contribute to radiometric analysis and optical performance metrics.
