Job summary

Oregon State University seeks part-time Undergraduate Learning Assistants (ULAs) for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. ULAs mentor peers in Climate Science, Environmental Sciences, Geography and Geospatial Science, Geology, and Oceanography, assisting faculty and graduate TAs in active learning environments.

Applicants must be enrolled as degree-seeking undergraduates with relevant coursework.

Qualifications

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
• Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
• Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student engagement in active learning environments.
• Prepare for facilitation by meeting with course faculty and reviewing learning materials.
• Communicate with students, faculty, and graduate teaching assistants.
• Serve as undergraduate peer learning mentors.
• Participate in training and professional development for undergraduate learning assistants.
