Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Hardware Security Engineering Undergrad Intern in the ISCD within the Cyber and Mission Technology Department. The role is full-time onsite at El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA, focusing on hardware security research and secure system design.

You’ll work with FPGA/ASIC, embedded systems, and secure software practices, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
• Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks and return to degree program full-time after completion.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Experience with FPGA design, HDL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog) and vendor tools.
• Experience with embedded systems (Xilinx Zynq/Microblaze, ARM, Altera NIOS).
• Experience in coding/scripting with C, C++, Python, Perl, or Shell.
• Hands-on experience with Linux environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; US citizenship is required.
• Transcripts required.

Responsibilities

• Directly contribute to hardware security research, development, and applications.
• Define threat paths and develop guidance on FPGA/ASIC/embedded systems vulnerability mitigations.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug hardware and firmware issues.
• Assist in development and improvement of microelectronics assurance policy, requirements and documentation.
• Collaborate with other Aerospace departments and external organizations to develop new technical demonstrations.
• Learn and grow through trainings and mentorship from experienced staff.
