Job summary

The ACLU is seeking an Undergraduate Intern in the Communications and Marketing Department. This part-time role can be based in New York or remote, and you must be based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.

You will assist with creating and distributing press materials, build media lists, craft pitches, monitor trends, and support research for integrated communications plans.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled.
• At least one internship or work experience in journalism, PR, or communications.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Avid reader of news and familiar with media trends.
• Familiarity with AP style; knowledge of media relations tools is a plus.
• Ability to draft press materials and social content.

Responsibilities

• Draft internal and external materials: press releases, talking points, social posts, blogs, and advisories.
• Build lists of reporters, editors, producers, and bookers from diverse outlets.
• Pitch stories to media and help raise coverage of ACLU issues.
• Monitor news trends and track press clips.
• Support research informing multi-faceted communications plans (audiences, messaging, goals).
