Job summary

Pacific University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting on Extended-Term Track beginning August 2027. The role covers undergraduate courses in taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems, with emphasis on student advising, curriculum development, and service to the department.

Qualified candidates hold a Master’s in Accounting or related field and an active CPA/CMA or equivalent; a doctorate is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Accounting or a closely related field, or a master's degree in Business Administration or another business discipline with sufficient graduate-level accounting coursework to meet applicable ACBSP faculty-qualification standards.
• Active CPA license, CMA, or another relevant professional accounting certification.
• Demonstrated academic and/or professional preparation sufficient to teach undergraduate accounting courses in the areas assigned to the position with emphasis on taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate accounting courses effectively and translate professional practice into meaningful learning experiences.
• Commitment to student mentoring and preparing students for internships and entry-level professional positions.
• Doctorate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor undergraduate students through the delivery of all levels of undergraduate accounting courses, particularly in taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems.
• Prepare students for professional success by developing technical accounting competencies, ethical judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.
• Connect students with career opportunities by developing relationships with accounting firms and employers to expand internships and entry-level positions.
• Maintain liaison roles with campus units and external professional organizations and stay informed on pedagogical best practices.
• Serve as an academic advisor and contribute to curriculum development, student recruitment, and assessment.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, program assessment, and departmental initiatives.
