Qualifications

• Master's degree in higher education, student affairs/personnel, or related field.
• Understanding of the unique needs and experiences of first-generation students.
• Ability to develop and present workshops and information sessions on varying topics.
• Experience advising students.
• Understanding of financial aid policies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Provides one-on-one advising to a caseload of undergraduate students, including first-generation and international students with financial need, on academic concerns and program alignment.
• Counsels on general education, prerequisites, and major course requirements.
• Advises students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns.
• Supports coordination of and collaborates with the advising team on summer orientation sessions.
• Provides guidance related to international student policies.
• Develops content for and instructs PHR 1100 and/or PHR 1100H classes.
• Establishes ongoing supportive relationships with students through regular meetings for goal setting.
• Helps develop mentor programs for diverse student groups.
• Coordinates planning of programs, workshops, panels, and networking opportunities.
