The Uncrewed Systems Department of the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State invites undergraduate students to design and assemble small unmanned rotorcraft and work on digital engineering challenges.

As a DoD SkillBridge partner, ARL welcomes transitioning military members to apply. You will work up to 20 hours per week during fall and spring and 40 hours per week in summer, with duties including developing control systems, test planning, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled undergraduate student in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field.
• Willing to commit up to 20 hours/week during fall/spring and 40 hours/week in summer.

Responsibilities

• Develop control systems and implement on rotorcraft.
• Develop test plans and conduct flight tests to verify design and control law correctness.
• Develop modeling and simulation algorithms, and implement in code for use by the team.
• Prepare reports on results of testing, and present to sponsors.
