UNARMED SECURITY OFFICER – DAY SHIFT

Location: Greater St. Louis Area

Starting Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour (depending on site and experience) with unlimited long‑term earnings potential as part of GCI’s Fast‑Track Leadership Program.

GCI Security provides professional guarding services to private neighborhoods, corporate offices, retail properties, and industrial sites. The unarmed security officer will patrol assigned locations, maintain a visible and professional presence, and support client peace of mind.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high‑visibility presence to deter crime and reinforce client peace of mind.
• Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols to monitor premises, secure perimeters, and identify safety concerns.
• Observe and report suspicious activity or safety hazards promptly and accurately.
• Provide friendly, professional interaction with residents, guests, employees, and the general public.
• Enforce site‑specific policies and procedures while maintaining GCI’s standards of courtesy and respect.
• Write clear, detailed incident reports and daily shift logs using GCI’s reporting systems.
• Respond to alarms, disturbances, or incidents with calm, sound judgment and professionalism.
• Assist emergency personnel as needed and communicate effectively with law enforcement when required.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent the GCI brand with integrity at all times.
• Stay alert, aware, and present, minimizing distractions while on duty.
• Prepare each post for success by arriving on time, following post orders, and completing all shift responsibilities.
• Communicate regularly with field supervisors and dispatch to ensure seamless coverage and quick response.
• Participate in ongoing training to build professional skills and prepare for advancement opportunities within GCI.

Education & Experience

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• Prior security, military, or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
• Reliable transportation to assigned job sites.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift).
• Patrol on foot or in a vehicle as needed.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, or outdoor environments.
• Perform work indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Observe and hear accurately; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.
