Pay Range: $17.63 - $27.77 per hour

Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor of Security ROPH, this role is responsible for monitoring the hospital’s building and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry, and for enforcing policies and procedures related to safety and security of personnel and property. Additionally, it involves assisting patients, visitors, and staff in matters related to safety and security.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • 1 to 3 years of previous security experience, hospital preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s (Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin) license required. Must have a prior driving record deemed acceptable to Hospital Management based upon the results of a Motor Vehicle Report check conducted by Human Resources.
  • Must possess and be responsible for maintaining current Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Firearm Control Card (FCC) within 90 days of employment (including revolver). Illinois Firearm’s Owner’s Identification Permit (FOID).
  • Must be able to qualify for and demonstrate the use and maintenance of firearms and departmental equipment. Must be able to wear body armor.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand or walk during the majority, if not entire tour of duty, and withstand weather extremes for external assignments. Physically capable of performing required responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform continuous surveillance of all hospital facilities and grounds to ensure all rules are followed and areas are secure.
  • Investigate unusual occurrences related to security, respond to all security calls, and assist patients, visitors, and staff accordingly.
  • Prepare incident reports, memorandums, and other written documentation as needed and/or requested.
  • Provide escorts in the parking lot to patients, visitors, and staff if requested.
  • Work with local law enforcement on any pertinent investigation.
  • Inspect packages leaving/arriving at hospital facilities to ensure safety.
  • Assess unusual/dangerous situations, protect those involved, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Maintain all security equipment.
  • Participate in annual security response drills and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
