Job summary

Maarif School in Wayne, New Jersey, is seeking a dependable Unarmed Security Guard for the 2027–2028 academic year. You will monitor entrances, manage visitors, and patrol campus to safeguard students, staff, and families. The role requires vigilance, calm responses, and strict adherence to school policies.

• Respond to security incidents and emergencies per school procedures.
• Support lockdowns, evacuations, drills, and safety initiatives.
• Maintain accurate security logs, visitor records, and incident reports.
• Communicate concerns to school administration and coordinate with responders.
• Inspect facilities for safety hazards and unsecured areas.
• Maintain confidentiality and interact respectfully with students, staff, parents, and visitors.
• Perform other security-related duties as assigned.

Maarif School is accepting applications for a full-time Unarmed Security Guard for the 2027–2028 academic year at our new campus in Wayne, New Jersey.

We are seeking a reliable, attentive, and professional individual to help protect students, staff, families, and visitors. The selected candidate will monitor campus security, manage visitor access, and support school safety operations while maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, school safety, or a related field preferred.
• Valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) certification required when applicable to the employment arrangement and assigned duties.
• Knowledge of security procedures, emergency response protocols, and visitor management.
• Strong observation, communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to respond calmly and professionally to emergencies and challenging situations.
• Dependable, punctual, discreet, and capable of working independently while following school policies.
• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Communicate concerns promptly to school administration and coordinate with emergency responders or law enforcement when necessary.
• Inspect school facilities and grounds for safety hazards and unsecured areas.
• Maintain confidentiality and interact respectfully with students, staff, parents, and visitors.
• Perform other school security-related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in school security, unarmed security, or a related field.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational environment.
• Valid New Jersey SORA certification.
• Familiarity with school emergency procedures, visitor management, and surveillance systems.
• Training in de-escalation, conflict resolution, and emergency preparedness.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
