Job summary

United Nations Development Programme in New York seeks an UN Coordination and Coherence Analyst to advance UN system-wide coherence and strategic engagement across inter-agency spaces. The role supports UNO reform efforts, policy alignment, and relationship-building with UN entities and Member States.

The analyst will draft briefing materials, coordinate participation in interagency meetings, and help ensure UNDP’s position is reflected in high-level discussions at HQ and regional levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for development of corporate strategies to inform UNDP’s engagement in inter-agency and intergovernmental processes, including QCPR.
• Develop and maintain close relationships with Member States and UN entities to advance UNDP’s engagement and advocacy efforts.
• Support UNDP’s participation in, and follow-up to, intergovernmental and inter-agency meetings and conferences.
• Monitor and analyze inter-governmental discussions on UN reform, coherence, and UNDS repositioning.
• Strengthen feedback loops between country/regional offices and UNDP representatives to inform interagency policy and guidance documents.
• Coordinate UNDP participation in interagency working groups to reflect our position in discussions.
• Support UNDP participation in the CEB and sub-mechanisms (UNSDG, HLCP, HLCM) and other inter-agency groups; ensure UNDP’s position is reflected.
• Support UNSAG’s engagement with UN system agencies and prepare UNDP positions for interagency meetings.
• Monitor and follow up on joint mandates/legislation from intergovernmental bodies.
• Provide input into papers, talking points, reports and briefs; review UNDP/interagency draft documents.
• Support UNDP’s implementation of the UNDS reform and engagement in UN80 work streams across HQ/regions.
• Review and analyze country-level involvement in UN coherence; manage RR survey data.
• Collate inputs from HQ/regional offices; prepare guidance notes on future UNDS reform.
• Provide secretariat support for inter-agency meetings and cross-bureau mechanisms.
• Support other functions within the UNSA Group.
