The Utah Museum of Fine Arts on the University of Utah campus invites applications for a part-time cafe kitchen position. You will handle kitchen duties, assist with barista tasks, and help maintain cleanliness and food safety in a fast-paced environment.
Open 8:00 am–5:00 pm; schedule includes Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00 am–4:30 pm, with 10–19 hours weekly, some weekends/evenings; pay is $14.00 per hour plus tips.
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is located on the campus of theUniversity of Utah and offers visitors the opportunity to exploreover 5,000 years of human creativity with a collection of over20,000 objects and art works from classic Greek and Romanantiquities to cutting-edge, contemporary art. Founded in 1914, theUMFA is the state of Utah's art museum, creating exhibitions andprograms that serve a wide array of audiences. The UMFA is housedin the award-winning Marcia and John Price Museum Building.
Candidates for this position will be primarily assigned to kitchenduties, but will also be expected to learn and demonstrateknowledge of Barista duties. This is a fast-paced work environment,combining intense periods of food service and heavy cleaningduties, with limited customer interaction. Kitchen staff will beexpected to perform both opening and closing duties, with studiousconcern for procedural standards in cleanliness, food safety,quality, presentation and cooperation with others.
Kitchen staff will require a Utah Food Handler's permit (UMFA willprovide if necessary)Kitchen Staff's primary responsibilities areas follows:a. Preparing menu items in a timely fashion according torecipes and customer requestsb. Dishwashingc. Constant, thoroughcleaning of food prep areas and machineryd. Receiving, stocking andmaintaining inventorye. Daily food pre-preparationf. Maintain highlevels of personal hygieneg. An accommodating ability to work withothersh. Awareness of the Museum operations and programs
Current Food Handler's Permit within one month of employment; mustbe able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in English;and a commitment to providing excellence in service required. Sixmonths food handlers' experience is preferred.
A successful candidate possesses exceptional food handlingknowledge, moderate customer service skills, is a dedicatedself-starter with attention to food presentation, cleanliness andteamwork, and is reliable and dependable.Previous kitchenexperience is preferred.
