Qualifications

  • Familiarity with museum operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to Museum guests and greet them with a friendly, helpful attitude.
  • Process store transactions accurately using the POS system.
  • Answer phone calls professionally and manage calendar, memberships, and visitor inquiries.
  • Assist with keeping displays clean, stocked, and organized.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current exhibitions and programs to guests.

Job Summary

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) Store seeks a highly motivated,dependable, and creatively minded individual to support the teamwhile working in an energetic and collaborative environment. The UMFA is the state and the University fine arts museum, servingas a vital cultural resource for Utah and the broader region.Established in 1914, the Museum stewards an encyclopedic collectionof more than 22,000 objects representing 5,000 years of humancreativity across the globe. Through its exhibitions, programs, andcollections, the UMFA advances understanding of the visual arts andtheir role in shaping and reflecting the human experience. Under the supervision of the Store Manager the Store Clerk'sprimary responsibility is to deliver excellent customer service bywelcoming patrons to the store, maintaining displays, processingaccurate transactions in our point-of-sale system, and sharingbasic vital information about the Museum with our guests.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to Museum guestsa. Greet eachguest with a friendly face and helpful attitudeb. Ability tomulti-task and prioritizec. Accurately process store transactionsd.Answer phone calls professionallye. Complete cleaning and stockingduties while remaining aware of customer needsDemonstrate museumknowledgea. Responsible for general knowledge of Museumoperationsb. Awareness of current exhibitions and programsc.Receives updates via email, reviews general calendar and respondsto email correspondenced. Proficient in selling memberships andmember benefitse. Assist customers with calendar, exhibition,program and event questions.
Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following joblevels:

  • Customer Service Representative, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Preferences

A successful candidate possesses exceptional customer serviceskills, is reliable and dependable, and is a self-starter with adedication to quality, presentation, and cleanliness. Previousexperience in retail or another customer driven environment ispreferrable.
