Job summary

KBR is seeking an UMCS Program Manager in Huntsville, AL. This role has full authority on contract matters for daily operations within the UMCS portfolio and requires coordinating with the Critical Infrastructure Director to ensure delivery, quality, cost controls, safety, and people management.

The Senior Program Manager will drive portfolio strategy and oversee multiple projects in alignment with customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years in UMCS/ESS/SCADA tech field.
  • 5+ years in a management or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience managing over 20 employees.
  • Secret clearance or ability to obtain within six months.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience with ESS and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Drive daily tactical activities with customer focal points to ensure momentum across programs.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships and satisfaction across all programs.
  • Create and execute corrective action plans when necessary to meet commitments.
  • Apply best practices for operational excellence across all contract requirements.
  • Supervise direct-report employees and ensure performance.
  • Coordinate with project/program managers, track KPIs, analyze variances, and develop recovery plans.
  • Support business development initiatives, including organic growth and new ventures.
  • Provide leadership input into proposals, including pre-bid, proposal development, and post-award activities.
  • Ensure all programs meet contract requirements and deliverables.
  • Organize and lead Quarterly Business Reviews, Monthly Performance Reviews, and Voice of Customer sessions.
  • Collaborate with Contracts, Project Controls, Subcontracts/Procurement, Legal, HR, Safety, and Quality teams.
  • Explore and implement technology improvements such as automation and AI where applicable.

Job Summary

The Utility Monitoring and Controls Systems (UMCS) Program Manager will have full authority to act for the contractor on all contract matters relating to daily operation of the contracts within the UMCS portfolio. The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for supporting the UMCS portfolio and the Critical Infrastructure Director in ensuring customer delivery, quality, cost controls, safety, people management, and overall contract execution. The Senior Program Manager will also support the strategic goals of the business unit, align with customer requirements, and oversee multiple projects. Key responsibilities include ensuring customer satisfaction, driving business growth, supporting and leading projects, and ensuring successful management of the portfolio.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Work with customer focal points to drive daily tactical activities.
  • Develop strong customer relationships and ensure satisfaction across all programs.
  • Develop and execute corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Apply best practices for operational excellence across all contract requirements and initiatives.
  • Supervise direct‑report employees.
  • Coordinate with project/program managers, develop and track key performance indicators, analyze variances, and develop recovery plans, including RAIL tracking and get‑well plans when required.
  • Support all business development initiatives, including organic growth and new ventures.
  • Provide operational level leadership and input into the proposal process, including pre‑bid, proposal development, and post‑award activities.
  • Ensure all programs meet contract requirements and deliverables.
  • Organize and lead Quarterly Business Reviews, Monthly Performance Reviews, and Voice of Customer discussions with clients.
  • Coordinate and engage with functional teams, including Contracts, Project Controls, Subcontracts/Procurement, Legal, Small Business, HR, Safety, and Quality.
  • Implement technology improvements such as automation and artificial intelligence where applicable.
  • Coordinate and develop process improvement initiatives and portfolio projects.
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or bachelor’s in business from an accredited university with at least 12 years of relevant experience in the UMCS/ESS/FAS/SCADA technology field, including five years of experience in a management or supervisory capacity and five years in the functional area of the program to be managed.
  • Previous experience managing over 20 employees.
  • Secret clearance or ability to obtain a Secret clearance within six months of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience in Electronic Security Systems (ESS) field.
  • Experience working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Experience providing operations support for firm‑fixed‑price, cost‑plus, and other contract bids.
  • Experience working with senior leadership.
  • Experience working with technical content.
