Job summary

Washington Regional Medical System in Fayetteville, AR is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams in a hospital setting, with direct patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency areas.

You will operate ultrasound equipment per protocol, obtain diagnostic images, and collaborate with radiologists and care teams to ensure timely, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent training and clinical experience.
• ARDMS certification required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by department policy.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• One year of ultrasound experience in an acute care hospital, emergency, or outpatient imaging setting preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, teamwork, and patient service.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations following orders and department standards.
• Review history and orders to confirm appropriateness and patient details before imaging.
• Prepare patients, explain exams, and maintain privacy, comfort, and safety.
• Operate and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images.
• Perform general, vascular, obstetric, gynecologic, abdominal, small parts, portables, and procedural scans as trained.
• Communicate critical findings promptly to radiologists or providers.
• Assist with ultrasound-guided procedures and maintain sterile technique as applicable.
• Document exam information, patient responses, and technical notes in the EMR/RIS.
• Maintain exam rooms and equipment per infection control and safety standards.
• Participate in QA activities, image quality reviews, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement.
• Support department operations, including workflow coordination and weekend/holiday coverage.
