Job summary

Washington Regional Medical Center in Northwest Arkansas seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and surgical areas. You will operate equipment, obtain images, and support radiologists and providers in ultrasound-guided procedures.

The role requires an accredited sonography program, ARDMS certification within policy, BLS/CPR, and 1 year of ultrasound experience in acute care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent ultrasound training.
• ARDMS certification required or to be obtained within department policy timeframe.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• One year ultrasound experience in acute care/hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in general, vascular, obstetric, gynecologic, abdominal, small parts, emergency, portable, and procedure-support contexts per orders and protocols.
• Review patient history, indications, prior imaging, and exam orders to confirm appropriateness and medical necessity.
• Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures, explain the exam, and maintain patient privacy, comfort and safety.
• Operate, adjust, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Document exam information, patient responses, image labeling, and technical notes in EMR/RIS.
• Assist radiologists and providers with ultrasound-guided procedures, maintaining sterile technique and appropriate monitoring.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and infection prevention and safety initiatives.
