Qualifications

• Specialized post-secondary training equal to two years of college.
• Registration required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound procedures according to established departmental protocols.
• Operates ultrasound equipment and records images.
• Uses RIS to schedule exams and process labels, folders and films.
• Serves as a resource to sonographers, MDs, and students.
• Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies; keeps area clean and safe.
• Provides proper patient care, explains procedures and positions patients as required.
• Maintains patient records and statistics accurately.
• Labels sonograms and communicates results to physicians.
• Maintains records, reports and files as required.
• Adheres to policies and participates in quality improvement and safety requirements.
