Hours: Per Diem, Variable PRN. Shifts are typically mid shift and evening shift, occasional morning or weekend shift. Includes on call.

Location: Melrose Wakefield Hospital.

Job Profile Summary

This role involves using various imaging techniques to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include performing ultrasound duties such as utilizing ultrasound technology for internal imaging, applying specialized knowledge gained through vocational education and experience, and working under moderate supervision with routine problem-solving and some interpretation.

Job Overview

Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams under physician or radiologist supervision, using high-frequency sound waves to examine internal body structures. Requires technical knowledge of acoustics, anatomy, and physiology to customize exams based on patient data, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timeliness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associates degree or two-year certificate in Ultrasound
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification within one year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of ultrasound technologist experience

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment, manipulate transducers, and record examinations
• Assist radiologists in interpretation and describe anatomical details
• Compare current and previous ultrasounds, document findings, and prepare reports
• Assist with procedures like biopsies, aspirations, and guided interventions
• Report equipment issues and safety concerns
• Participate in on-call rotations and holiday shifts as per policy
• Perform independent procedures, provide excellent patient service, and educate patients about exams
• Maintain professionalism and participate in quality improvement activities

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, occasional sitting and walking, lifting 30-35 lbs., pushing equipment
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating equipment and reading reports

• Proficiency in OB/GYN, small parts, venous, carotid, and abdominal ultrasounds, and ultrasound-guided procedures
