Job Description

We are searching for an Ultrasound Specialist RVT -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will prepare, administer, and document activities related to mediations in accordance with state regulations and institution policy. The Specialist is a liaison between patients, radiologists, and other members of the support team. The Specialist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique. They are responsible for patient care, appropriate documentation, quality control, and quality improvement. They also provide training, education, and mentoring to students, technologists, nursing staff, residents, fellows, and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Check room daily for adequate stock necessary to facilitate continuous exam flow. Maintain appropriate inventory as indicated by posted par levels and update supply lists when items are needed.
  • Assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure such as medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, insufficient patient preparation, or artifacts.
  • Provide information to patients, healthcare providers, students, and the public concerning the role and responsibilities of individuals in the profession.
  • Perform routine and complex, STAT, urgent, on-call, and potentially intraoperative Ultrasound cases independently, demonstrating understanding of anatomy and pathology through proper imaging techniques.
  • Ensure precise, complete, and accurate data entry and image management in systems like EPIC and PACS.
  • Perform procedures accurately and independently, identify and resolve issues, and seek knowledge to gain expertise.
  • Conduct quality control activities on equipment and collaborate to resolve image quality issues.
  • Participate in and lead continuing education, read professional publications, review procedure manuals, and attend training sessions.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • RVT certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography within 18 months of starting the role.
  • RDMS-AB, RDMS-OB, or RDMS-PS certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • RVS - Registered Vascular Specialist by Cardiovascular Credentialing International may substitute for RVT.
  • At least 3 years of Radiology experience in any modality.
