Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to produce ultrasonic recordings for physician diagnosis. You will select equipment, explain procedures to patients, and position them for optimal imaging.

You will also enter data, monitor image quality, and work as part of a patient‑centered team in a busy hospital setting. Minimum: Associate degree in Ultrasound with 1+ year of related experience; ARDMS/ARRT registry or eligibility and BLS required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or better in Ultrasound or equivalent.
  • ARDMS or ARRT registry eligibility with timely certification.
  • BLS certification and ability to work in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ultrasound equipment to produce two dimensional recordings.
  • Explain procedures to patients and guide positioning for exams.
  • Select transducers and adjust controls per exam requirements.
  • Enter test data and patient information into ultrasound system.
  • Maintain quality by monitoring ultrasound patterns and documenting results.

  • Pay or shift range: $30 USD to $44 USD
    The estimated salary range is provided in accordance with Virginia Pay Transparency requirements. Final salary offers are calculated based on job-related factors, including education, experience, location, shift, skills, specialties, and/or other relevant qualifications or criteria.

Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist produces two dimensional, ultrasonic recordings of internal organs to be used by the prescribing Physician in the diagnosis of diseases and in the study of the malfunction of organs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Select equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination
  • Explain process to patient, and instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for examination
  • Select transducer and adjust equipment controls according to the organ being examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test
  • Key test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results
  • Move transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observe sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced

Education and Experience

Minimum Required Education:Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school

Experience: 1+ years related experience and/or training, breast ultrasound experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Applicants must be registered or registry eligible through ARDMS or ARRT. If registry eligible, the applicant must be ARDMS or ARRT registered within 3 months of employment. BLS required.
