Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina, seeks an experienced Ultrasound Technologist to join our imaging team and deliver high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services in a patient-centered environment. Our 123-bed Level III Trauma Hospital provides emergency, inpatient, and outpatient imaging across a diverse population.

The Ultrasound department uses Philips systems and supports abdominal, vascular, obstetric/gynecologic, and interventional exams.

Qualifications

  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a certified Ultrasound Technologist preferred.
  • ARDMS certification within 18 months of hire.
  • BLS certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations across a broad range of areas.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area; ensures patient safety and comfort.
  • Assists in training ultrasound students during clinical rotations.
  • Coordinates with radiologists and health-care team to communicate findings.

The smallest of the four Duke Health hospitals at 123-beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Ultrasound Technologist
Location: Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital
Work Schedule: PRN, with a minimum of four (4) shifts per month

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital is seeking anexperienced Sonographer to join our dedicated imaging team and provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. We area 123-bed, Level III Trauma Hospital providing a wide range of services to patients throughout the region. Our Sonography team supports a diverse patient population across the Emergency Department, inpatient units, and outpatient services, playing an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of our patients.

Our Ultrasound department is equipped with Philips ultrasound technology, providing technologists with the opportunity to work with advanced imaging equipment while performing a broad range of diagnostic examinations. The department supports patients across multiple care settings, including emergency, inpatient, and outpatient imaging.

What you will do:
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
  • Exams include, but may not be limited to, abdominal, vascular, small parts, ob-gyn, vascular, infant head/hip/spine, and interventional procedures.
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the Radiologist.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.
  • Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department.
  • Completes exam tracking/billing accurately on a daily basis.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.
  • Establishes and maintains productive ethical working relationships with coworkers, referring providers and commercial agencies.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Assist in training of ultrasound students during clinical rotations.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures and does not require assistance from fellow sonographers.
  • Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers.
  • Assist in teaching of ultrasound technology to new physicians, residents, and fellows.
  • Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member. Participates in the maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein

Required Qualifications:
Education:
  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a certified Ultrasound Technologist strongly preferred
Degrees, Licensures, and/or Certifications:
  • ARDMS certification within 18 months of hire.
  • BLS certification
