Job summary

Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas is seeking a PRN Registered Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. You will perform ultrasound exams for patients across all ages, ensuring high quality and timeliness while protecting patient privacy.

Qualified candidates will have RDMS, RVT, BLS within 30 days, 2 years' ultrasound experience preferred, and graduation from an AMA-approved ultrasound program. This PRN role offers benefits and growth opportunities within HCA Healthcare.

Qualifications

  • BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • RDMS certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Two years of ultrasound experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, initiates, implements and completes ultrasound exams on patients across all ages with quality and timeliness.
  • Assesss patient needs and exam requirements to fulfill orders.
  • Complete all written and electronic documentation to status.
  • Maintain patient privacy during all exams.
  • Operate ultrasound machine and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Provide age-appropriate care for Birth-1 to 60+ years groups.
  • Disinfect and use endovaginal probe per policy.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Receives, initiates and implements orders for ultrasound sonography exams/procedures using a high degree of quality and timeliness.

What you will do in this role:
  • Receives, initiates, implements and completes ultrasound exams on patients of all ages with a high degree of quality and timeliness
  • Demonstrates expertise necessary to assess patients exam needs in relation to their ordered exam
  • Completes all documentation, written and electronic taking the patient to a completed or taken status
  • Provides for patients’ privacy during all exams
  • Demonstrates expertise in the operation of the ultrasound Machine. Can detect mechanical problems and effectively troubleshoot or remove from service
  • Provides age appropriate care to all patient populations for which staff member is responsible and trained for: Birth-1 - Adult = 18-59 years - Pediatric=1 - 12 years - Geriatric=60 & over - Youth=13-17 years
  • Competent in the use of and disinfection of the endo-vaginal ultrasound probe as per policy procedure (RAD 323)
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • RVT required
  • Vocational School Graduate from an American Medical Association approved school of ultrasound
  • Two years' experience preferred
