Job summary

Envision Radiology in Mansfield, TX is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to perform ultrasound procedures on adult and pediatric patients under radiologist supervision.

This role requires ultrasound experience, ability to educate patients, attention to detail and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. The position involves coordinating with radiology staff and may involve travel of images between facilities.

Responsibilities

• Interface with patient to obtain medical history and explain procedures to obtain best images.
• Review charts for missed information and screen implants or allergies.
• Perform ultrasound scans and print images, ensuring patient care before/during/after exam.
• Assist Radiologist on specialized exams.
• Transfer images to other locations as needed.
• Coordinate scan protocols with Radiologist.
• Maintain and inspect equipment; report issues promptly.
• Interface with Lead Technologist and Center/Area Manager regarding departmental concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Envision Imaging is adding a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to the team!

PRN (As-needed) | Position pay range: $40.75 - $52.54

Summary/Objective:

Performs ultrasound procedures to adult and pediatric patients for diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. Assists radiologists during specialized exams to obtain images at a satisfactory level with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

• 1. Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
• 2. Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent. Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
• 3. Performs ultrasound scans and prints images while attending to patient’s care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.
• 4. Assists Radiologist on specialized exams.
• 5. Transfers images to other locations as needed.
• 6. Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.
• 7. Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.
• 8. Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervision responsibilities.

This job operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment. Potential exposure to radiation, which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• Two plus years’ experience in Ultrasound – preferred
• Ability to educate patients on procedures being performed
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, a problem solver and a team player
• Ability to excel in a very fast-pace team environment
• Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectation

Education/Certifications

• Graduate of an accredited Sonography program
• Current ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or ARRT (VS) registry – preferred
• Current ARDMS Registered Obstetrician/Gynecology Technologist (OB/GYN) or ARRT (S) registry - preferred
• Current license from state medical board (if applicable)
• Current CPR/BLS certification
