Job summary

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound studies under the direction of a Radiologist.

The role involves selecting imaging techniques, positioning patients, and applying safety practices in accordance with department protocols, while pursuing ARDMS certification and completing SPI, Abdomen, and OB/GYN exams within 12 months of hire. Ongoing medical education is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be registered with ARDMS, or eligible to sit for an ARDMS examination.
• If eligible, SPI, Abdomen, and OB/GYN ARDMS examinations must be completed within 12 months of hire.
• Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
• Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
• ARDMS defines 'candidate' as an applicant who has met prerequisites to sit for ARDMS examination.

Job description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in the performance of diagnostic ultrasound procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. Performs related functions according to department protocols. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.

Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or eligible candidate to sit for an ARDMS examination.

The ARDMS defines 'candidate' as an applicant who has met the prerequisites required to sit for an ARDMS examination.

If eligible candidate, successful completion of SPI, Abdomen, and OB/GYN ARDMS examinations required within 12 months of date of hire.

Failure to obtain registry within the designated timeframe will result in termination of the Ultrasound Technologist position.

Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.

Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
