Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, or Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri; 8hr days.

Job Summary
  1. Ensures that two points of patient identification are obtained, the patient is properly prepared, and relevant patient history is obtained. Reviews the patient’s chart to gather pertinent clinical history, test results, and laboratory data relevant to accurate ultrasound interpretation.
  2. Explains the exam to the patient, considering physical and emotional needs, while maintaining ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.). Completes OB scans effectively and efficiently, maintaining high standards of patient care to provide an exceptional patient experience. Delivers patient care within scope of license/training.
  3. Utilizes universal precautions and safety techniques specific to the patient’s status.
  4. Operates all equipment used during the workday, reports malfunctions, and requests repairs as needed.
  5. Cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within the department.
  6. Maintains effective communication with departmental and hospital personnel.
  7. Completes paperwork and reports for each patient exam.
  8. Prepares equipment, room, and supplies for each patient and daily use. Stocks and supplies the department as needed.
  9. May oversee and instruct personnel and students within the department.
  10. Participates in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
  11. Remains flexible for shift coverage and overtime as needed.
  12. Stays updated on developments in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment; participates in educational programs and meets continuing education requirements.
  13. Transports and transfers patients following departmental guidelines.
  14. Uses independent judgment and initiative under pressure during patient exams.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Imaging or Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials

  • Sonographer [RDCS] - ARDMS preferred
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer [RDMS] - ARDMS preferred
  • Certified Sonographer - ARDMS preferred

Experience

  • Ultrasound scanning experience 1-5 years preferred.
