Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist for the Vascular Surgery department in Fayetteville, NC. The role requires competency in diagnostic and vascular sonography with emphasis on safe, efficient exam performance and documentation.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, exam preparation, collaboration with radiologists, RIS data entry, and participation in education of students. ARDMS/RDMS credentials are preferred; registry eligible within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of AMA approved Sonography program required.
• ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS RDMS preferred; registry eligible within 12 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, review orders and confirm exam reason.
• Prepare patients for procedure, answer questions and communicate with supervising radiologist for exam protocol.
• Record exam begin/end times in RIS to ensure timely access for radiologist.
• Provide safe environment with infection control guidelines and patient safety goals.
• Monitor timeliness of exams and quality of care per department goals.
• Perform QA of exams (order, image annotation, laterality) before interpretation.
• Participate in clinical education of student sonographers.
• Support department Performance Improvement Projects.
