This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.

Job Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. As a member of the Fertility Center sonography team, the incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of ultrasound images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the ultrasound area. Successful candidates will have a solid foundation in sonography, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an interest in furthering their sonography skillset in a Fertility setting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients, visitors, and all faculty and staff.
  • Perform confidential ultrasonography examinations:
    • Review imaging requests for appropriateness; review all questionable orders with the physician.
    • Perform gynecological and first trimester ultrasound examinations.
    • Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
    • Observe patient while in the ultrasound area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instructions.
    • Identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images.
    • Integrate diagnostic sonogram with patients' history, medical records, and laboratory results, and conduct examinations accordingly.
    • Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to physician for interpretation. Present and prepare preliminary ultrasound findings to attending physician for final report.
    • Maintain log of ultrasound findings.
    • Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and prepare them for testing.
  • Ensure proper operation of equipment. Participate in inspections as requested.
  • Preform clerical responsibilities association with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records. Complete documentation pertinent to ultrasound examinations.
  • Support inspection readiness as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalency required.
  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical program required.
  • Register eligible or ARDMS certified. ARDMS eligible graduates from CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education) accredited program must be registered in OB/GYN within 18 months of employment. Must maintain ARDMS credentials annually.
  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment efficiently, evaluate sonogram to acquire diagnostic information, and communicate diagnostic information to physicians.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence skills, including strong service orientation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
  • Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices (multiple sites and flexible schedule).
  • OB/GYN experience preferred.

Hourly Rate Ranges: $40.38 - $54.18

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
