Job summary

Southcoast Health in New Bedford, MA is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in a collaborative radiology team. The role involves patient preparation, image acquisition, and documentation in the EHR, with a focus on quality and safety.

The ideal candidate has an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program and ARDMS/ARRT registration, BLS certification, and prefers RDMS with RVT. Vaccination against flu and COVID-19 is required unless exempt.

Qualifications

• Accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Vascular Technology completed and primary certification attained.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• ARDMS/CCI/ARRT registration required.
• RDMS with RVT preferred.
• Pediatric ultrasound experience preferred but training available.
• Must be vaccinated against Influenza and COVID-19 or eligible for exemption by signing a certificate.

Responsibilities

• Perform diversified ultrasound imaging procedures as part of the Radiology team.
• Position patients, select imaging equipment and document data in the EHR.
• Educate patients about exams and ensure patient safety.
• Identify and prepare pharmacologic agents as needed for exams.
• Assist physicians during procedures and maintain image quality following ALARA principles.
