Job summary

Mercy Health Corporation in Rockford, IL is seeking a dedicated Breast Sonography professional to provide clinically relevant imaging and preliminary reports under physician supervision. This PRN position supports the Mon-Thurs 7:30am-4pm schedule at the McFarland Clinic, with emphasis on breast imaging and QA duties.

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program and have ARDMS/ARRT or registry eligibility, with CPR/BLS within 90 days.

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Minimum One (1) to Three (3) years of Breast Sonography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review examination images to meet QA standards, synthesize examination results to include incidental findings, prepare the preliminary findings, and provide preliminary report.
  • Use radiology information systems (including PACS), complete all required records and reports, archive and submit images for physician review and interpretation.
  • Assist radiologist and/or other providers with procedures as needed including but not limited to surgical procedures.

OVERVIEW

Functions as a healthcare provider who, working under the delegated authority of the supervising physician, serves as a medical imaging professional providing clinically relevant information to assist the physician with the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for the Diagnostic Sonographer. Adhere to department policies and procedures. This position is Breast Sonography only.

Schedule: PRN

Shift: Mon-Thurs 7:30am-4pm

Location: McFarland Clinic in Rockford, IL

Pay Range: $37.29-55.94

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refer specific diagnostic, treatment or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional.
  • Review examination images to meet QA standards, synthesize examination results to include incidental findings, prepare the preliminary findings, and provide preliminary report.
  • Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for the Diagnostic Sonographer.
  • Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
  • Report and document US safety incidents/adverse events per protocol.
  • Assist with the daily operation of the sonography facility.
  • Exercise responsibility to ensure that the ultrasound equipment is functioning accurately.
  • Use radiology information systems (including PACS), complete all required records and reports, archive and submit images for physician review and interpretation.
  • Utilize electronic medical record and structured reporting system to document pertinent patient information.
  • Work with the appropriate staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co‑workers, administrators, and members of the health care team.
  • Assist radiologist and/or other providers with procedures as needed including but not limited to surgical procedures.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Minimum One (1) to Three (3) years of Breast Sonography experience preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
  • ARDMS or ARRT sonography registered or registry eligible. Registry eligible partners must obtain breast registry within 12 months of hire.
  • All partners must be registered in a second clinical specialty within 2 years of hire; as approved by the partner's department leadership (AB, OB, RVT, BR, MSK, PS).
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
