Job summary

Mass General Brigham in the Boston area is seeking a full-time Sonographer to operate ultrasound equipment and produce diagnostic images of the abdomen, pelvis, fetus, thyroid, breast, scrotum, prostate, extremities, and vessels for diagnosis of disorders.

You will provide high-quality patient care, perform scans efficiently, and collaborate with the care team to support accurate diagnoses and a remarkable patient experience.

Qualifications

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in OB/GYN and/or Abdomen; Vascular a plus.
• One year of clinical experience in General, OB/GYN, Small Parts and Vascular Imaging.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and prepare exams per orders.
• Explain procedures and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Perform ultrasound exams and assist training of staff and students.
• Participate in on-call, holiday, and flexible shift coverage.
• Support departmental QA and research initiatives.

About this position

The Sonographer operates Ultrasound Imaging equipment to produce diagnostic ultrasound images of the abdomen, pelvis, fetus, thyroid, breast, scrotum, prostate, extremities, vessels and other procedures for diagnosis of disorders and diseases.

Summary

Responsible for providing quality patient care while producing ultrasound images and patterns used for patient diagnosis and treatment. The responsibilities also include completing scans effectively and efficiently while maintaining the highest possible standards of patient care to provide the most remarkable patient experience.

Essential Functions

• Patient & Exam Verification: Confirm patient identity using two identifiers (full name and DOB). Review exam orders and clinical history. Prepare and clean equipment and rooms; restock supplies as needed.
• Patient Care & Collaboration: Clearly explain procedures, considering patient comfort and confidentiality. Collaborate with leadership to ensure efficient workflow and scanner use. Provide care within the scope of training and licensure.
• Department & On-Call Coverage: Participate in on-call, holiday, and flexible shift coverage as needed.
• Clinical Performance: Perform ultrasound exams and assist with training staff and students. Operate equipment and follow protocols. Complete additional duties as assigned.
• Research & Quality Initiatives: Support and participate in departmental research, QA, and improvement projects. Conduct research-related ultrasound exams as required.

Qualifications

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in OB/GYN and/or Abdomen, Vascular a plus. One year of clinical experience in General, OB/GYN, Small Parts and Vascular Imaging. GE, Siemens experience a plus. CPR Certification Required.
