Job summary

CJW Medical Center is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality ultrasound imaging following established protocols. The role requires PACS and Meditech accuracy, with ARDMS or ARRT licensure and ongoing continuing education.

In this on-site position at Chippenham Hospital, you will support radiology procedures, ensure patient care is professional, and maintain equipment and rooms to high standards while contributing to a collaborative healthcare team.

Qualifications

• ARDMS or ARRT registered ultrasound technologist required.
• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology.
• 1 year staff sonographer experience preferred; PACS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain quality ultrasound images per protocols.
• Manage ultrasound equipment; recognize critical diagnostic information.
• Perform Meditech and PACS operations; verify orders.
• Render patient care professionally and courteously.
• Prepare exam rooms; monitor supplies and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist radiology staff with procedures and patient care.
• Review exams for technical quality and PACS verification.
• Assist with PACS cleanup and image management.
• Maintain ongoing education requirements.

Job Summary And Qualifications

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• 1 Obtains quality ultrasound images of patients. Demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability to adjust protocols as required.
• 2 Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information. Utilize independent judgment and decision making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound.
• 3 Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.
• 4 Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
• 5 Prepares examination rooms for ultrasound procedures. Monitors inventory of supplies and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.
• 6 Assist the radiology nurse or the radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types of care to the patient.
• 7 Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. technical quality, anatomical positioning, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS.
• 8 Assists Facility System Administrator and Ultrasound Supervisor with PACS clean up. ie: unarchived images, unspecifieds, etc.
• 9 Completes and maintains educational requirements
• 10 Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

PREFERRED: 1 year as a staff sonographer. Previous PACS experience.

EDUCATION

REQUIRED: Competently trained in ultrasound. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARDMS for licensure.

REQUIRED: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

REQUIRED: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer ARDMS or ARRT Current CPR certification
