Job summary

Chippenham Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare in Richmond, VA, seeks a Radiology Department Supervisor to coordinate patient flow, oversee staff performance, and drive process improvements across diagnostic radiology. The role requires three years minimum experience as a staff technologist and three years supervisory experience, with graduation from an AMA-approved Radiologic Sciences program.

ARRT certification and Nuclear Medicine Technology certification are required; AHRA and BLS are

Responsibilities

• Initiates intradepartmental problem solving and communication. Provides leadership guidance and instruction to staff.
• Directs the coordination of patient flow through the department.
• Assists in the development and implementation of department PI functions
• Coordinates troubleshooting for diagnostic radiology equipment.
• Maintains staffing levels to match patient volumes and budget
• Monitors dosimetry levels and departmental compliance
• Assists in equipment proposals and staff education
• Involved in projects requested by Radiology Director
• Cost containment of inventory management
• Troubleshoots PACS operations and enforces Policies for PACS
• Reviews radiology department job descriptions and conducts annual evaluations
• Maintains department policy notebook and clean work area
• Maintains confidentiality and complies with education requirements

Job Summary and Qualifications

• Initiates intradepartmental problem solving and communication. Provides leadership guidance and instruction to staff.

• Directs the coordination of patient flow through the department.

• Assists in the development and implementation of department PI functions

• Coordinates troubleshooting for diagnostic radiology equipment.

• Works closely with Supervisors, establishing job expectations, to monitor work performance of staff. Maintains appropriate staffing levels to coincide with patient volumes and budget man-hours per stat.

• Responsible for monitoring and posting of monthly and annual radiation dosimetry levels

• Assists in preparation of justifications for equipment proposals, staff education and special projects. Actively involved in specific projects requested by Radiology Director.

• Responsible for cost containment of inventory management

• Coordinates troubleshooting for PACS operations, ensuring daily backup of PACS system database. Assists in the development and enforcement of Policies and Procedures for PACS.

• Reviews and develops Radiology Department job descriptions, expectations, employee competencies and other training documents. Works closely with Director and area supervisors to complete annual employee evaluations.

• Assists in the maintenance of up to date effectual departmental Policies and Procedure notebook.

• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.

• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees , patient’s and the Director according to Policy and Procedures.

• Complies and maintains educational requirements.

What qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE

• Three years minimum experience as a staff technologist. Three years minimum supervisory experience (required)

EDUCATION

• Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Sciences. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated for licensure (required)

• B.A./B.S.(preferred)

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

• American Registry of Radiologic Technology (required)

• Certification of Nuclear Medicine Technology (required)

• American Healthcare Radiology Administrators - AHRA - (preferred)

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (preferred)
