Job summary

IU Health in Fishers is seeking a full-time Ultrasound Technologist to support the Fishers region across multiple IU Health locations. Primary sites include IU Health Fishers/Saxony, East Washington Clinic, and USA Parkway.

The role requires flexibility to cover at least two locations, with scheduling options including 5x8 or 4x10, and no on-call or holiday requirements. The technologist will perform OB/GYN ultrasound, maintain high image quality, and collaborate with radiologists while ensuring

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of OB/GYN ultrasound experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Active credentialing with ARDMS/ARRT/CCI as required by the facility.
• May require Indiana ISDH license where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provides ultrasound imaging of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow.
• Operates sonographic equipment independently and adjusts settings for diagnostic quality.
• Collaborates with radiologists and healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic info.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by proper positioning and explanations.
• Familiar with scan protocols and maintains high disinfection standards.
• Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed; may provide intraoperative ultrasound.

Position Overview

• Full-time Ultrasound Technologist position supporting the Fishers region.
• Primary locations will likely include:
  • IU Health Fishers/Saxony campus
  • East Washington Clinic
  • USA Parkway location
• Ultrasound staff are expected to be comfortable working at a minimum of two locations to provide scheduling flexibility and coverage as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment. Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and makes necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information. Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed. Familiar with current scan protocols. Maintains compliance with high level disinfection practices. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed. Possesses familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices. Provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested.

• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
• For ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires active status through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen, RDMS(AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS(OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography, RDMS(PS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology , RVT(VT); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography, RT(S) or Vascular Sonography, RT(VS) ; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Vascular Sonographer, RVS; as required by facility accreditation, if applicable. Exception: if performing breast ultrasound only, must obtain credential through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(BR); or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography & Breast US, RT(S)(BS), or Radiography , Mammography & Breast Ultrasound, RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire.
• For non-ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires candidates to meet one of the two following conditions: Must be actively pursuing ultrasound education and have already passed the ARDMS physics boards, or must have graduated from an ultrasound education program. Requires certification through one of the methods mentioned in the accredited section above within 12 months of hire.
• May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
• May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
