Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Oregon is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular and musculoskeletal scans, ensuring patient comfort and high-quality images. You will maintain equipment, coordinate with staff, and stay current with advances in ultrasound technology.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Graduate of an approved program in ultrasound technology.
  • Registered or eligible for ARDMS in ultrasound physics, general abdominal, OB/GYN.
  • Current Sonography license issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging. Permanent license required within 1 year of hire.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience with IntelliSpace PACS and EPIC.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, and musculoskeletal scans.
  • Position patients correctly to obtain clear images while ensuring comfort and safety during the procedure.
  • Captures and saves high-quality ultrasound images for accurate representation.
  • Provides the physician with the clinical history appropriate to the exam.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and performs routine maintenance and quality checks.
  • Ensures surrounding areas are neat and organized.
  • Checks and reports equipment failures to supervisor.
  • Coordinates with front desk to ensure a smooth ultrasound schedule.
  • Keeps current with advances in ultrasound technology via continuing education.

Education

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
Graduate of an approved program in ultrasound technology
Current Sonography license issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, and musculoskeletal scans
  • Position patients correctly to obtain clear images while ensuring their comfort and safety during the procedure
  • Captures and saves high-quality ultrasound images, ensuring that they accurately represent the anatomy or pathology being examined
  • Provides the physician with the clinical history appropriate to the exam being performed
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment, performing routine maintenance and quality control checks on ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functionality
  • Ensures surrounding areas are neat and organized
  • Checks and reports any equipment failure or maintenance problems to the Department Manager/Supervisor/Lead Tech
  • Coordinates with front desk personnel to assure a smooth ultrasound schedule
    Stays current with advances in ultrasound technology and medical knowledge by participating in continuing education and training

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Graduate of an approved program in ultrasound technology
  • Registered or eligible for registration with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in ultrasound physics, general abdominal, OB/GYN
  • Current Sonography license issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging. License can either be permanent or temporary. Permanent license required within 1 year of hire
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - IntelliSpace PACS, EPIC
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Other Registries with ARDMS
  • 1+ years of experience as an Ultrasound Tech

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29 - $52 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable
