Job summary

Optum is seeking a Radiologic Technologist in Oregon to perform diagnostic X-rays and related procedures with a patient-focused, safety-driven approach. The role requires collaboration with providers to ensure high-quality imaging and patient care.

Responsibilities include patient positioning, equipment operation, adherence to safety standards, image review, and confidentiality. Valid Oregon diagnostic radiography license and ARRT certification are required; CPR/BLS is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory completion of AMA approved radiologic technology program.
  • Current Oregon license in diagnostic radiography.
  • ARRT certification required.
  • CPR/BLS certification required.

  • Position patients and adjust equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures.
  • Instruct patients regarding procedures.
  • Follow prescribed safety standards in operating all radiologic equipment.
  • Select exposure length and intensity for each patient.
  • Examine radiologic images for density, contrast, and distortion.
  • Maintain equipment and report malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and participate in professional development.

This position serves the patients, providers and other support staff by performing tests using the appropriate radiology equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-rays and performing routine diagnostic procedures as directed by providers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures
  • Instructs patients regarding procedures
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating all required radiologic equipment
  • Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis
  • Examines radiologic images for properties such as density, contrast, definition, magnification and distortion
  • Insures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor
  • Processes routine paperwork
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications - External
Required Qualifications
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved (2+ years) school and meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT
  • Current Oregon license in diagnostic radiography
  • Current certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Healthcare provider level CPR/BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • CT experience
  • Experience with an electronic medical record system

The hourly pay for this role will range from $23.89 to $42.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
