Job summary

Salem Health is seeking an ultrasound technologist at West Valley Hospital in Dallas, Oregon. You will perform a range of ultrasound exams, assist radiologists with procedures, and ensure accurate documentation.

You’ll adapt imaging techniques for children and older adults while maintaining exam quality. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team, maintain equipment, and use PACS, RIS, and HIS systems to manage orders and patient data.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Sonography.
• Licensed in Sonography by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI).
• Excellent communication and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of ultrasound exams (general, small parts, carotid, breast, venous).
• Assist radiologists with invasive procedures with proper supplies and safety.
• Tailor imaging for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients while maintaining quality.
• Analyze images for completeness and annotate with patient info.
• Correlate sonographic findings with clinical history and prior imaging.
• Maintain, adjust, and clean ultrasound equipment; report issues.
• Utilize PACS, RIS, and HIS to manage orders and patient data.
• Communicate with patients and healthcare teams while protecting privacy.
• Support department operations and assist colleagues as needed.

Schedule:8, 10 or 12-hour shifts, variable scheduled days

Your role with us

As an ultrasound technologist at Salem Health, you will play a key role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging to support exceptional patient care. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, assist with procedures, and ensure accurate, thorough documentation. Your expertise will help guide clinical decisions and enhance the patient experience through compassionate communication and technical excellence.

What you'll do

• Perform a variety of ultrasound exams, including general (abdomen, pelvic, OB), small parts, carotid, breast, and venous studies.
• Assist radiologists with invasive procedures, ensuring proper use of supplies, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Tailor imaging techniques to meet the needs of pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients while maintaining exam quality.
• Analyze images for completeness, gather additional views as needed, and provide thorough documentation with proper patient identification and annotation.
• Correlate sonographic findings with clinical history and prior imaging to assist in diagnosis.
• Maintain, adjust, and clean ultrasound equipment; promptly report any issues to your supervisor.
• Utilize PACS, RIS, and HIS systems to manage orders, track patient information, and ensure accurate billing.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare providers, protecting patient privacy at all times.
• Support departmental operations by keeping work areas organized, assisting colleagues, and training others as required.

Required qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Sonography.
• Licensed in Sonography from the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI).
