Job description

Ultrasound Technologist

Diagnostic Imaging | Community-Based Critical Access Hospital | Eastern Oregon

Imagine practicing ultrasound where your work is truly valued — where you are more than a number in a large health system, and every scan directly impacts the care of neighbors, families, ranching communities, and patients who rely on a small hospital to deliver exceptional medicine close to home.

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join a highly collaborative Diagnostic Imaging team at a respected Critical Access Hospital nestled in one of Oregon’s most scenic and welcoming regions. This is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients and providers while enjoying the pace, beauty, and lifestyle that only rural Pacific Northwest living can offer.

Whether you are an experienced sonographer looking for a more connected environment or someone seeking professional growth within a supportive team, this role offers the chance to make a visible difference every day.

What You’ll Do

As the Ultrasound Technologist, you will play an essential role in both patient care and diagnostic excellence. You will guide patients through the imaging experience from scheduling and preparation to exam completion and follow-up coordination.

You’ll perform a broad range of high-quality ultrasound procedures including:

  • General abdominal imaging
  • OB/GYN studies
  • Small parts examinations
  • Venous Doppler studies
  • Carotid Doppler imaging

Working closely with providers, nursing staff, and radiologists, you’ll help ensure accurate, timely imaging services while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, compassion, and professionalism.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and scheduling patients according to departmental protocols
  • Verifying orders, authorizations, and exam appropriateness
  • Performing and documenting exams accurately within RIS/PACS and the hospital EHR
  • Preparing images for radiologist interpretation
  • Maintaining infection prevention and equipment quality assurance standards
  • Supporting department workflow in a collaborative rural hospital environment
  • Assisting with cross-training and departmental growth initiatives as needed
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Practice in a highly respected rural healthcare setting where your contributions are immediately meaningful
  • Enjoy greater autonomy and variety than is typical in large urban imaging departments
  • Work alongside a close-knit, mission-driven team committed to exceptional patient care
  • Experience the lifestyle advantages of Eastern Oregon — open landscapes, mountain views, outdoor recreation, and genuine community connection
  • Opportunity for long-term career growth within a stable, community-centered organization
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of technical skill, adaptability, and patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • ARDMS certification (or equivalent) in Abdomen and/or OB/GYN
  • Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) license upon hire
  • Current BLS certification
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with providers and staff
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and service excellence
Preferred
  • One or more years of experience in abdominal and OB/GYN imaging
  • Breast imaging experience is a plus
The Environment

This is a full-time opportunity within a community-based hospital that values teamwork, integrity, flexibility, and compassionate care. Part-time or PRN opportunities may also be available.

If you are looking for a role where your expertise matters, your relationships are genuine, and your work supports an entire community, we would welcome the opportunity to connect with you.
