Job description

Location: Salem Hospital,890 Oak Street SE, Salem, OR 97301
Department: Diagnostic Radiology
Position type: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 7:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday - Tuesday & Thursday - Friday

Your role with us

At Salem Health Hospital and Clinics radiologic technologists are a vital part of our patient care team, using their technical expertise and compassionate approach to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging that supports accurate and timely medical decisions. Our technologists go beyond simply taking images—they apply critical thinking to tailor each exam based on patient condition, anatomy, and cooperation level, ensuring optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure in alignment with ALARA principles.

X-ray is one of the few hospital departments that navigates throughout every building across our campus, creating a dynamic and highly active workday. On average, the X-ray department performs approximately 275 exams each day, supporting emergency department patients, inpatients, outpatients (both scheduled and walk-in), and operating C-arms during surgical procedures. This adds up to an average of about 12,000 steps per shift, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys staying busy and on the move.

You’ll be part of a close-knit, collaborative team that works together constantly to put patients first. Leads and charge technologists are present and accessible to provide support, guidance, and real-time problem solving. With no on-call requirements and opportunities for cross-training into additional modalities, this role offers both stability and professional growth within a supportive environment.

At Salem Health, we value team members who are energetic, self-motivated, and eager to contribute—those who take initiative, communicate well, and thrive in a fast-paced setting. Our culture is rooted in continuous improvement through LEAN principles, where every team member is encouraged to bring forward ideas that enhance patient care, efficiency, and team experience.

You’ll work with cutting-edge equipment, document thoroughly, and navigate systems like EPIC, Radiant, and PACS with confidence. Whether supporting physicians during exams, assisting with patient care tasks, or stepping into flexible roles as needed, our radiologic technologists are empowered to make a meaningful impact every day.

If you’re looking for a supportive, team-oriented, and growth-driven environment where your skills are valued and your work truly matters, Salem Health is the place for you.
