The PRN position requires assisting with positioning, selecting transducers, and maintaining high-quality imaging while monitoring patient status and communicating findings to the Ultrasound Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an AMA approved Radiologic Technology School and/or accredited ultrasound program.
  • Preparing for ARDMS/ARRT registry or ARDMS registry eligible.
  • Must have BLS/CPR by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to established protocols and policies.
  • Explain the test to the patient and assist the patient in assuming the proper position for examination.
  • Select appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to exam specifications.
  • Enter test data and patient information into the ultrasound system to maintain records of results.
  • Move the transducer and adjust controls to obtain optimal images of the organ under examination.
  • Produce images and record diagnostic data on appropriate media for permanent records.
  • Assess, evaluate and inform the physician of changes in the patient’s condition during the exam.
  • Perform all quality control checks and maintain QC logs.

PRN (as needed) , All , PRN (As Needed)/will work weekends

Reports to the Ultrasound Supervisor. Under general direction, responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and policies and procedures.

  • Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications
  • Explains the test to the patient. Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
  • Assesses patient’s understanding of process and informed consent.
  • Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of test.
  • Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
  • Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of the body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced
  • Produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout or film
  • Obtains permanent record of internal examination by photographing images of organs shown on the display module removing the strip printout
  • Assesses, evaluate and informs physician of changes in patient’s condition during the exam
  • Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed
  • Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc
  • Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instructions
  • Graduation from an AMA approved Radiologic Technology School and/or an accredited training school in Ultrasound techniques
  • Preparing for registry or certification by either ARDMS or ARRT or ARDMS registry eligible

Must have BLS/CPR by the American Heart Association.
