Job summary

ZoomCare is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our Tualatin Valley Super Clinic. You will perform ultrasound examinations, maintain patient privacy, and communicate results to the interpreting physician. The role requires independent judgment and adherence to clinical standards.

We offer Per-Diem scheduling with 12-hour shifts (7:30am–8:00pm) and opportunities for professional growth in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment in Oregon.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is required.
• 2+ years of experience in sonography.
• RDMS in Abdomen and OB/GYN or eligible for OB/GYN certification within 12 months of hire.
• Oregon state licensure for sonography.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonography procedures with independent professional judgment.
• Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Review patient history and orders for medical necessity.
• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment, ensure safety.
• Communicate results and prepare preliminary findings.
• Acquire additional ultrasound imaging as needed.
• Refer questions to physicians when appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE AND TRAINING

• Location: ZoomCare Tualatin Valley Super Clinic
• Schedule: Per-Diem
• 12 hour shifts, 7:30am-8:00pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for the Diagnostic Sonographer.
• Apply independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies, and procedures.
• Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information to ensure that the sonography examination order is complete, contains relevant information, and meets the standard of “medical necessity.”
• Evaluate patient contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination and associated procedures. Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination.
• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infections disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Communicate with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient’s ability to understand.
• Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and musculoskeletal injury to the sonographer.
• Review examination images, synthesize examination results, and prepare the preliminary findings.
• Refer specific diagnostic, treatment or prognosis questions to the appropriate physicians or healthcare professionals.
• Acquire additional ultrasound imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician, as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience in sonography.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen and OB/GYN (Or eligible for OB/GYN Certification (or obtained within 12 months of hire)).
• State sonographer licensure, OBMI, required for Oregon.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Able to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, AthenaOne, and other relevant software applications.
• Excel in a fast-paced work environment, thriving under pressure and time constraints.
• Vaccinated against COVID-19, Hepatitis B., MMR, PPD, Varicella (Chickenpox), and TD/TDAP.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from a recognized and reputable organization (e.g., American Heart Association, Red Cross) or the ability to obtain one within 1 month of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and reaching overhead.

• Prolonged periods of standing/sitting and working at a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at time.
• Ability to move to a different clinic location based on business needs.
• Patient volume may often require more than your scheduled hours per week or work outside of regular business hours to complete essential duties of this job.
• Occasional reaching and lifting of small objects and operating office equipment.
• Ability to adjust focus between close and distance vision.
• Exposure to sensitive and confidential information.
• Ability to be fit tested and wear a respirator, when required.
